Who We Are

GBC-Group consultants  believe the emerging national (and international) information infrastructure should embrace architectural patterns governing the way we work, play, learn, and live. Our mission is to define and apply those patterns, creating effective solutions addressing the challenges and opportunities of modern information technology.

Our diverse backgrounds  in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Instructional Technology, and Modern British Literature help use discern useful patterns and combine them in innovative ways.

Our senior architect, Steve Ornburn (resume: html, word), has been contributing to the field of software architecture through his teaching, research, writing and projects since 1986.  His work has appeared in IEEE Computer, IEEE Software and the major software engineering conferences.

Notable among those who have influenced our thinking about software architecture, either as mentors or though their published work, are the faculty of Georgia Tech's College of Computing and the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon. Of course, special mention needs to be made of Mary Shaw and Dave Garlan's work on architectural styles, and the Software Patterns Community, which is inspired by Christopher Alexander's pioneering work on patterns in civil architecture.
